2006 saw
the launch of the Tweenhills Breeding Enterprise Investment Scheme.
It had a profitable start with our twin aims of profitable investment
and increasing the quality of our stock being met in style.
Dance
Lesson proved a hugely profitable investment with her colt foal
by Danehill Dancer almost doubling her 52,000gns purchase price
when selling at the December Sales for 100,000gns. The mare has
been retained and she now has a very smart colt, by leading first
season sire Kyllachy.
The
well bred Lothlorien also proved a sound investment realising approximately
£20,000 profit on her purchase price, whilst Petomi broke
even with us retaining 25% of her Xaar filly at the sales. The decent
two-year-old Shouting the Odds is still at Tweenhills with a visit
to Ishiguru planned, her Bahamian Bounty filly has done well through
the winter and will be sold at the yearling sales.
Two
new mares were purchased in 2006. Lindesburg has already proven
herself a high class broodmare and is in foal to Champion two-year-old
and Eclipse Stakes Gr.1 winner Oratorio. She will be visiting Darley’s
exciting first season sire Gr.1 miler Librettist.
The
other new mare, Flora Burn, is an attractive half-sister to Gr.3
winner Campsie Fells, and has foaled a smart Indian Ridge colt who
is a three parts brother to a Gr.3 winner and therefore an extremely
attractive proposition. She will be visiting new Tweenhills stallion,
Sleeping Indian.
The Scheme will aim to increase stock held, year on year, until
liquidating assets at the Tattersalls December Sales in 2009.
As always, shareholders are always welcome to come and visit their
bloodstock at Tweenhills.
