David
has had a lifelong fascination in bloodstock and has a proven eye
for a horse, partly inherited through his parents. His mother and
grandmother were leading show judges and his father is one of the
finest portrait painters in Britain.
David
spent seven years working in racing before returning to the family
farm in 1995 to convert it into a successful public stud, Tweenhills
Farm and Stud. During this time he gained experience at several
studs worldwide and as assistant to Geoffrey Howson, Amanda Skiffington
and Luca Cumani at Tattersalls and Keeneland Sales. He was also
manager of the bloodstock department for Russell Baldawin &
Bright (now Brightwells).
Since
the establishment of David Redvers Bloodstock in 1995, David was
initially retained for five years by Mark Johnston for all the major
yearling sales. In his first freelance year and with only a limited
budget, 35% of the runners that he originally purchased as yearlings
went on to become stakes performers.
Notable
purchases include Penkenna Princess, who came second in the 2005
Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas following up her two-year-old win in the
Gr.3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes (The Fred Darling Stakes). Also Johnny
Jumpup was second in the Gr.2 Mehl-Muhlens-Rennen (German 2,000
Guineas) and Gr.3 Greenham Stakes.
Speedy
two-year-olds included Clare Hills, winner of the L. Hilary Needler
Trophy, and fourth in the Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes to leading juvenile
Flashy Wings. Two-year-olds of 2006, Vale of Belvoir and Holdin
Foldin, also gained black-type when coming second in Listed races.
Other stakes winners include Stay Young, formerly called Romancero,
who won the Gr.3 Sha Tin Mile Trophy and two Listed races in Italy.
Ruby Rocket, who won five times, including two Listed races, and
came second or third in a further seven stakes races. Also Bouncing
Bowdler (Gr.2 Mill Reef), Diktatorial (Gr.3 Somerville Tattersalls
Stakes) and Falcon Hill, winner of five races including two Listed
races, and Listed winner Strange Destiny.
In
addition to this success, David established Tweenhills Racing in
2001 and is responsible for purchasing all their horses, many of
whom have won. The Tweenhills/Rathmore Pin-hooking Syndicate has
had significant success with Gr.2 Park Hill winner, Rising Cross,
and Gr.2 Oak Tree Derby winner, Dark Islander, both having been
purchased as foals by the syndicate. Promising young commercial
sires Ishiguru, Sleeping Indian and Trade Fair were also purchased
by David Redvers and have contributed to Tweenhills Farm & Stud
being the leading up and coming independent stud in the country.
David Redvers Bloodstock is a member of the Federation of Bloodstock
Agents (GB) Ltd which has a Code of Working Ethics to which members
must abide, so you can also be assured of integrity and honesty.
