David Redvers has had a lifelong fascination in bloodstock and has a proven eye for a horse, partly inherited through his parents. His mother and grandmother were leading show judges and his father is one of the finest portrait painters in Britain.
In 1995, David established the bloodstock agency, David Redvers Bloodstock. Since then, he has purchased many winners and stakes horses without spending a fortune.
Notable purchases include Pasar Silbano, a €25,000 purchase who won a Gr.3 in USA following her two-year-old Stakes success in Ireland. Also Classic performers, Penkenna Princess, who came second in the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, and German 2,000 Guineas second Johnny Jumpup. Both achieved stakes success as two-year-olds as did the consistent 2007 stakes performer Cute Ass, and Clare Hills, winner of the Listed Hilary Needler Trophy. Two-year-olds of 2006, Vale of Belvoir and Holdin Foldin, also gained black-type. Take a look at the Notable Purchases page on this website for more successful horses purchased as yearlings or at the Breeze-Up Sales.
As a bloodstock agent, David has also had success with broodmares. Rajeem won the Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes following the purchase of her dam Magic Sister for 35,000gns. Another mare purchased by David in recent years is Complimentary Pass whose 2006 colt foal by Medicean made 230,000gns at Tattersalls December Sales, and 400,000gns as a yearling. Subsequently named Mafaaz this Tweenhills' bred colt made an impressive winning debut in September 2008.
David also converted the family farm into a public stud in 1995. Since then he has been responsible for purchasing promising young commercial sires Ishiguru, Sleeping Indian and Trade Fair. All of whom have contributed to Tweenhills Farm & Stud being the leading up and coming independent stud in the country.
In addition, David established Tweenhills Racing in 2001 and is responsible for purchasing all their horses, many of whom have won. The Tweenhills/Rathmore Pin-hooking Syndicate has had significant success too, with Gr.2 Park Hill winner, Rising Cross, and Gr.2 Oak Tree Derby winner, Dark Islander, both having been purchased as foals by the syndicate.
Prior to 1995, David spent seven years gaining experience at several studs worldwide and as assistant to Geoffrey Howson, Amanda Skiffington and Luca Cumani at Tattersalls and Keeneland Sales. He was also manager of the bloodstock department for Russell Baldawin & Bright (now Brightwells).
David was initially retained for five years by Mark Johnston for all the major yearling sales. In his first freelance year and with only a limited budget, 35% of the runners that he originally purchased as yearlings went on to become stakes performers.
His career as a bloodstock agent was originally assured when he purchased the legendary Cheltenham NH winner Lady Rebecca for 400gns as a yearling. Whilst David now primarily concentrates on the Flat market, he did purchase Secret Tune for just 10,000gns from Tattersalls February Sale 2008, who subsequently went on to be second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle in 2009.
David Redvers Bloodstock is a member of the Federation of Bloodstock Agents (GB) Ltd which has a Code of Working Ethics to which members must abide, so you can also be assured of integrity and honesty.
