DAVID REDVERS HAS HAD A LIFELONG FASCINATION IN BLOODSTOCK AND HAS A PROVEN EYE FOR A HORSE, PARTLY INHERITED THROUGH HIS PARENTS.
His mother and grandmother were leading show judges and his father is one of the finest portrait painters in Britain.
Combined with the role of managing Tweenhills Farm & Stud, David Redvers also acts as one of the country’s most active and successful bloodstock agents.
David Redvers Bloodstock was established in 1995 when David set up Tweenhills Farm & Stud. Prior to this David had spent four years working for Mark Johnston Racing as bloodstock consultant and ran the Russell Baldwin & Bright bloodstock office (now Brightwells). He had also spent several years gaining experience at various studs worldwide and as assistant to Geoffrey Howson, Amanda Skiffington and Luca Cumani at Tattersalls and Keeneland Sales.
Initially basing his business around the National Hunt market David made an immediate impact when purchasing the legendary mare Lady Rebecca for 400gns as a yearling. She went on to win three consecutive Cleeve Hurdles (Gr.1) and was joined at Venetia Williams' by another flagbearer in the Murphy's Gold Cup winner The Outback Way.
Although David's love of National Hunt racing remains undiminished, in recent years the focus has been towards the flat and his clients include Pearl Bloodstock, Thurloe Thoroughbreds, Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds, flat trainers Ralph Beckett, Peter Winkworth, Malcolm Saunders and Jamie Osborne. In addition to National Hunt owners Clarendon Park Estate, Tony Taylor and Paul Murphy and trainers Venetia Williams, Tom George and Henry De Bromhead.
Runners of note in 2010 include Royal Ascot winner Treadwell, Puff (Fred Darling Gr.3 winner), Tropical Paradise (dual Gr.3 winner) and dual listed winner Dever Dream as well as exciting jumpers Skint, Lidar, Kap Dream and Tell Massini. Click here to view more notable purchases.
David has had success with broodmares as well. Rajeem won the Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes following the purchase of her dam Magic Sister for 35,000gns. Plus the 2006 colt foal out of the 39,000gns broodmare purchase Complimentary Pass realised 230,000gns as a foal and 400,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls.
Several promising young sires have also been purchased by David Redvers Bloodstock. Most notable is the regally bred Classic winner, Makfi, for the Royal family of Qatar. In addition to the commercial young sire Sleeping Indian, and Royal Ascot sire Ishiguru.
